Pitfalls of The Limp Reraise

Often times you'll see a guy limp in from early position and then when a late position player raises the early guy decides to reraise. In my experience most of the time the early guy is just annoyed that he has been raised so he sticks it to the raiser by raising right back with tenuous holdings like small pocket pairs. However, if the early player is good then the limp reraise is more likely the result of sound strategy and the player can be put on a big pocket pair like aces or kings. I use the limp reraise at NL most of the time when I get aces under the gun. Perhaps I should vary my strategy a bit because if someone gets a read on me it could prove extremely costly. The following hand demonstrates the issue. Based on my experience playing with this guy I knew he was pretty strong, allowing me to immediately put him on a hand. My plan was to fold on the flop if I didn't hit. Fortunately it didn't come to that.
